The development of “Now You See Me 3” is reportedly gaining momentum at the start of the year. Aside from the protagonists, it appears that a very familiar baddie will also return for the third heist.
‘Now You See Me 3’ cast rumors: One very familiar villain will reportedly return in the third movie
It has been several years since fans last heard an update on “Now You See Me 3.” But if the reports from the previous weeks are any indication, there is a very good chance that more details about the third heist thriller would be revealed in 2020.
We Got This Covered reports that the development of “Now You See Me 3” has resumed last month. Fans who saw the second film may have thought that they have seen the last of Arthur Tressler portrayed by Michael Cane, an extremely rich businessman who served as the main adversary of the Four Horsemen in first films.
However, the same report says Caine is one of the actors that Lionsgate has reached out to for the making of “Now You See Me 3.” The most logical explanation is that Tressler will still play a villainous role in the upcoming movie. It is also possible for the next movie to show him in prison where he could be pulling the strings of another baddie that would directly oppose the Four Horsemen.
Obviously, “Now You See Me 3” cannot be released without the Four Horsemen. The group of magicians and skilled illusionists is composed of Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Merritt (Woody Harrelson), Jack (Dave Franco), and the newest addition Lula (Lizzy Caplan). They are under the leadership of Dylan (Mark Ruffalo). He is the son of a famous magician who has died and was actually a best friend of Thaddeus Bradley, a role that Morgan Freeman will purportedly reprise in the next movie.
‘Now You See Me 3’ release date speculations: When would the movie premiere?
It can be recalled that the script for “Now You See Me 3” was reportedly being put together since late 2016. There is a good chance that the writing part of pre-production has been completed, and once Lionsgate completes the cast, the filming of the movie could begin.
The schedule of production greatly depends on the actors’ availability, though. That means filming is still not guaranteed to begin in 2020, let alone the release of the movie. The earliest possible premiere for “Now You See Me 3” may take place in 2021 onward.
