Fans of “Orange Is The New Black” are delighted when a surreal, real-life love story has finally concluded in a super-stylish walk to the altar.
Samira Wiley, who has played the first four seasons of the show as the beloved Litchfield Penitentiary convict Poussey Washington, wed her girlfriend and current show writer, Lauren Morelli. Photos from the wedding were featured on Martha Stewart Weddings. The two wed on Sunday in Palm Springs, and the outdoor ceremony was officiated by Wiley’s parents.
BBC said Wiley and Morelli’s love story was straight out of paperback novel. The two met on the set of the Netflix drama. Morelli, who was writing for the show and was married to a man, realized that she was gay. She later on came out publicly on Mic.com. Morelli and Wiley dated later, and got engaged six months ago.
One of the most stunning things that was observed in their wedding was the two in their bride-white outfits, which were both designed by Christian Siriano. Bustle said the two appeared to have fans of Siriano’s work, and were in front row at the “Project Runway” winner’s fall New York fashion Week show back in February.
Wiley looked like the traditional bride in an off-shoulder dress, with her curls piled high, framing her face and the back of her neck. Morelli, on the other hand, sported a modern outfit, which is a classy, pantsuit with an elaborate bodice and an ethereal cape.
Meanwhile, we are expecting the two will take a long break from the show’s Season 5, considering Wiley’s character’s exit from the show and Morelli’s nature of work. “Orange is the New Black” Season 5 is expected to return in June this year.
