Dublin, Sept. 26, 2016 -- Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Outlook of Automated Manual Transmission in Commercial Vehicles by 2021" report to their offering.
Fuel Economy is the most influential factor leading to extensive development of complete power-train and power-train management solution. The important motive is to reduce driver dependency in the commercial vehicle segment as it directly impacts the performance of the vehicle. In order to abide with the fuel economy regulations, industry is driving towards investment in technology with the increasing market certainty on fuel consumption reduction. At the same time to remain profitable, frugal solutions are deployed and scaling up deployment of other new technologies will reduce cost. A fleet owner invests heavy capital in fixed costs as well as in operating the fleet which is variable. The variable expensive can be reduced by a significant percentage by choosing an efficient vehicle. The fuel savings can help reduce the costs not just for shippers (fleet owners) but as well for customers, as these vehicles are majorly used in logistics.
With the heavy fuel economy regulation implementation across the globe in the period of 2010-2015, the commercial vehicle segment is been evolving which has never been seen before. One such example is the advent of powerful and compact electronic control modules in transmission known as automatic and automated transmission for commercial vehicle. Early transmissions have a very heavy human impact which was not always uniform or efficient and sometimes difficult for the human themselves to manage. Thus, resulting in high number of issues related to performance and durability. This is where electronically- controlled systems are on leverage as they are controlling the gearshifts electronically.
AMT improves vehicle control and reduces fuel consumption for as high as five percent through optimized gear shifting. AMT further improves driver effectiveness, especially for less experienced drivers; by automating and optimizing gear shifting in 5-to 18-speed manual transmissions. AMT enhances vehicle safety by freeing drivers from frequent shifting and allowing them to channelize their concentration on traffic conditions. Less shifting also helps improve fuel economy hence providing a cleaner environmental footprint. In addition, driver's fatigue is reduced when using an automatic transmission instead of a manual transmission since they do not have to shift gears all the time.
Principal virtue of AMT is fuel efficiency and the reason of widespread increasing adaption. Comfortable driving and higher retention rate of drivers when using AMT are other charms of the technology. Buyers of new light trucks have shunned manual gearboxes, hence the "standard" transmission are almost invisible as an option.
