After more than a year of hiatus since the third season of the anime series concluded, “Overlord” season 4 remains one of the most awaited shows. However, avid fans of the franchise are likely seeing the release of the light novel’s 14th installment first before the return of the anime adaptation.
‘Overlord’ season 4 release date: Why it might not be announced before the arrival of volume 14
One of the reasons the announcement and release date of “Overlord” season 4 is unlikely before the launch of volume 14 is the fact that the latter has a confirmed date of arrival happening very soon. The next part of the original series will be released on March 12. Seeing that the fourth season of the anime adaptation has not been announced yet, the light novel is clearly getting a new installment way before its anime counterpart.
“Overlord” volume 14’s details are already listed on Kadokawa’s website. Aside from the release date, it is confirmed to be longer than the earlier installments with 584 pages and will be titled “Witch of the Ruined Kingdom.”
The same source has also provided the official synopsis of “Overlord” volume 14 that was enough to keep fans distracted from the lack of “Overlord” season 4 updates. The teaser confirms the struggles of the Sorcerer Kingdom will only become more challenging with Prince Zanack, Blue Rose, and Brain in the frontlines.
Unfortunately, “Overlord” season 4 is still not officially confirmed, leaving the fate of the anime series in limbo for now. However, the continuing support from fans around the world makes it impossible for the series to be canceled. The pace at which new light novel source materials are getting released has noticeably slowed down, though. This might also affect the release dates of “Overlord” season 4 and future anime seasons.

It is not advisable for fans to immediately jump into reading “Overlord” volume 14. “Overlord” season 4 is set to tackle many important events from the point where the Sorcerer Kingdom was created to the events in “Witch of the Ruined Kingdom.”
“Overlord” season 4 would start with Ainz trying to navigate his new responsibilities as a leader of the Sorcerer Kingdom. It would not be as easy as he anticipated, especially since he is admittedly not that knowledgeable when it comes to making and implementing laws.
