Peloton Interactive Inc. and TikTok have formed an unlikely partnership; thus, their deal has become the first of its kind. The two firms are joining forces intending to drive accessibility of fitness through the new #TikTokFitness Peloton Hub.
Launch of a New Fitness Platform
Peloton and TikTok announced their collaboration on Thursday, Jan. 4, and revealed the deal is part of the former's plan to change its public perception. The American exercise equipment maker is also hoping that this team-up will help it attract more customers from various age groups. The new agreement comes as Peloton's sales are starting to decline once again.
Through the partnership, Peloton is launching a new fitness hub on TikTok, the popular short-form video hosting service, called the "#TikTokFitness Powered by Peloton." This platform will feature short-form videos of fitness, content, and live classes that instructors from Peloton will conduct. The content may also be made in collaboration with TikTok creators, as per CNBC.
Availability of the #TikTokFitness
TikTok has more than one billion active users in the world so the new #TikTokFitness has big potential of reaching those who may be inspired by Peloton and TikTok's efforts to promote fitness and well-being - in a creative way. The companies are expecting many users to log into Peloton's hub to keep in shape while having fun.
"Peloton and TikTok both move at the speed of culture to better serve our respective audiences," Peloton's vice president of consumer marketing, Oli Snoddy, said in a press release. "We collectively recognize the way people engage with fitness is constantly changing. Our team is excited to complement TikTok's already burgeoning fitness content by introducing the magic of Peloton to new audiences, and in completely new ways."
TikTok's global head of business marketing, Sofia Hernandez, further commented, "Culture, communities and conversations live on TikTok and this offers brands an opportunity to deeply connect with their audiences. When it comes to the fitness category, we have thousands of communities coming together to connect on everything from #thefitnessjourney to bonding as #runnersoftiktok."
She added that the whole Tiktok team is thrilled that this partnership with Peloton will bring and offer inspirational fitness content while at the same time entertaining Peloton users who come to TikTok to learn, share fitness journeys, connect with instructors, and find community.
Fans and fitness enthusiasts may try the #TikTokFitness Powered by Peloton. This will initially be available in three regions: Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
