PepsiCo's Lay's potato chips launched a new flavor, and it has partnered with Lionel Messi, a soccer superstar, for a limited-time promotion. The popular snack brand debuts its Lay's G.O.A.T cheese flavor series, and the packaging bears the image of the 34-year-old pro footballer.
The release of the new Lay's G.O.A.T. cheese flavor with Messi is also meant to be part of the campaign for the 2022 soccer games that always bring excitement to fans around the world. It was mentioned that Lieke Martens, a 29-year-old Dutch footballer who plays for the Barcelona and the Netherlands women's national team, is also part of the soccer campaign for this year.
According to CSP Daily News, PepsiCo has started dropping hints about its collaboration with Messi since last year. On social media, Lay's has been posting special packaging featuring its own G.O.A.T. cheese flavors.
Now, the teasing was carried out as the snack brand is celebrating the "greatest of all time" featuring the said cheese flavors. This was to commence its yearly soccer campaign and to further strengthen its partnership with the Union of European Football Associations' (UEFA) Champions League.
In any case, the new Lay's cheese flavor in a limited-edition packaging will offer a distinct cheese flavor, and it will be sold at select markets worldwide. Fans can choose from the available flavors, including the U.S.'s Cheddar Jalapeno, Carmelized Onions, and Argentina's Queso & Pimienta.
Finally, those who are in the United States can buy this at www.snacks.com starting March 3. PepsiCo stated that the Lay's G.O.A.T. cheese flavors will be available on the site until supplies last.
"We are kicking off another exciting UEFA Champions League season celebrating the joy and passion our fans show for the sport each year," Global Foods, PepsiCo's vice president of marketing, Sebnem Erim, said in a press release. "From bringing to life the hotly anticipated Lay's G.O.A.T. limited-edition packaging and flavors to an imaginative creative that you just have to smile throughout, our goal this season is to celebrate our fans and bring them joy as they open a bag of Lay's and get ready to watch a UEFA Champions League match at home or in the stadium."
