Next Meats is launching its newest product next month and it is the Next Tuna. With this, a plant-based fish is now coming to the market.
The start-up company will be introducing the “fish-less” fish and this is unique as the market is already full of plant-based beef, pork, and chicken. Plant-based meat alternatives are becoming really popular today as more people are shifting and looking for vegan options for food items.
People are also becoming more concerned for the environment and believe that they can contribute by choosing to go vegan which means not eating meat and relying only on vegetables and fruits to survive and be healthier. Because of this changing preferences of the consumers, more companies are coming up with plant-based alternatives that can provide them with “meat” that did not come from animals.
In fact, even leading fast-food chains and restaurants are now offering plant-based food and beverages since many customers are requesting them. Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, two of the leading plant-based meat producers are already supplying “meatless” meat to Burger King, Pizza Hut, and more.
Now, the plant-based fish is coming and this is the first seafood to be introduced in the vegan option lineup. According to The Fish Site, Next Meats Co., a Japan-based firm, is also known for its plant-based barbecue meats and it has added tuna to its product list.
Ryo Shirai, Next Meats Co. co-founder, and Next Meats Holdings’ chief executive officer, said that he and his team are happy to be able to respond and provide what the customers are demanding from them. He said that they were able to develop this plant-based fish product after receiving numerous requests.
“We are thrilled to be able to respond to the myriad requests we got from fans to develop a pork alternative and to also release the company's first alternative fish product,” he said in a press release. “In Japan, pork is consumed the most out of all types of meat and seafood is consumed widely as well, so Next Meats believes the release of the NEXT Pork and NEXT Tuna is an important step towards a more sustainable future.”
Meanwhile, the company said that it will be posting more details about its Next Tuna product prior to its official release in October. As mentioned in the release, Next Meats will also be launching its new Next Pork plant-based product along with the tuna.
