Over the past month and a half, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent some time away from the United Kingdom with their son Archie. Now that they are back from their six-week break, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their first royal engagement for the year.
Express reports that the two royals will be paying a visit to Canada House. There, they will meet Janice Jarrette, who is Canada’s High Commissioner to the UK, and the rest of her staff. Harry and Meghan spent their six-week break in Canada, and their visit is their way of saying thanks for the warm welcome they received while there, according to the statement from the Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously revealed in an interview following their royal tour of Africa that they were struggling under the royal spotlight. Their break was approved by the Queen, and thus the couple was not present during the festivities that took place last year.
According to BAZAAR royal editor Omid Scobie, Canada is a safe place for the couple, and that Meghan also has family and friends who live there, and they will be able to spend time unnoticed. Mr. Scobie also predicted that the Duke and Duchess may be taking on more work there. When it came to rumors that Harry and Meghan may be considering moving to Canada permanently, Mr. Scobie said that he cannot see the royals moving there for the time being.
In light of the disturbing wildfires occurring in Australia, the Duke and Duchess took to social media to express their support and sympathy for everyone affected. They were amongst the other royals who shared their concern about the disastrous fires on Instagram. They encouraged their supporters to donate what they can to organizations that are working to support those who were affected.
Harry and Meghan have actively used the Sussex Royal account on Instagram to promote charitable organizations of causes that they support. The Sussex Royal Foundation is reportedly going to open this year. This will be a factor that will come into play when it comes to their future royal duties, according to an insider.
