The release date of “Rainbow Six Extraction” has been pushed to January next year. While this is not exactly a new discovery, a blog post published on Thursday officially confirmed the game’s launch schedule.
“Rainbow Six Extraction” was supposed to be released last September. But because of the development delays, Ubisoft has adjusted its launch to an unspecified date in 2022. It was discovered last month that a Ubisoft blog post released last June was quietly updated to mention that the game is launching on Jan. 20 next year. For some reason, though, the developer did not officially recognize the change until this week.
A new post on the official “Rainbow Six Extraction” website reiterates that the game will be released on the new date, along with the Buddy Pass system. Fans who will pre-order any edition of the game are getting two Buddy Pass tokens. They can share it with their friends, who will then get free access to the game for up to 14 days.
Ubisoft is offering a two-hour free trial of “Rainbow Six Extraction,” but those who will receive Buddy Pass tokens will be able to join the game for a longer period. “When you play with your friend using the Buddy Pass, the 2-hour timer for the Trial is paused. The 2-hour timer will resume anytime you play without your friend,” the developer wrote on the Buddy Pass FAQ page.
Players accessing “Rainbow Six Extraction” through Buddy Pass tokens will also be able to experience the game’s cross-play feature so they can join their friend’s squad regardless of the gaming system they use. The game is a PvE-focused title, so Ubisoft’s use of the Buddy Pass offer to promote the game is not entirely surprising.
Ubisoft also confirmed that fans who will start playing through a Buddy Pass will be able to carry over their progress if they decide to purchase “Rainbow Six Extraction.” “All progress unlocked in the Trial Version of the game is saved and will carry on to future game sessions or to the full game. This includes Trophies and Achievements,” Ubisoft said.
