“Red Dead Redemption 2” has just experienced a major leak before its official launch later this week. A 24-second gameplay video of the game was shared on the gaming forum ResetEra on Oct. 22, and it got gamers all hyped up.
The video has made its way to Reddit as well, and it shows Arthur Morgan being interrogated by a group of lawmen. But instead of cooperating, Morgan would get off his horse and attack the interrogators. Well, it’s not exactly a fair fight with Morgan shooting them before they could draw their guns. Interestingly, there was even a slow-motion kill cam that activates after the final enemy was taken out.
Developers usually don’t want to see details leak online, but Rockstar Games may have benefited from this because “Red Dead Redemption 2” is now getting a lot of attention days before its release. In fact, a lot of gamers seem to think the clip has done a better job in advertising the game than the trailers. “This 24-second clip got me more hyped for the game than all of the trailers Rockstar has released thus far,” Reddit user aceattorneymvp said.
“Honestly I totally agree. I have no idea what Rockstar is thinking with some of those trailers. It's like a weather man presenting a game - so clinical and measured and, well, boring. The raw gameplay speaks for itself,” another user mellowtooth added. “Think about the fact that just 24 seconds of footage got you so hyped up. If this was the first thing they showed in August, then by this point we would be over it,” calimanread also noted on Reddit.
Meanwhile, the full game map has also leaked online recently thanks to someone who grabbed a copy of the game’s strategy guide. “Red Dead Redemption 2” is set to hit the shelves on Oct. 26.
