Roblox, the renowned online gaming giant, is partnering with Sony to debut on PlayStation consoles this October, promising an enhanced gaming experience for its vast community.
Roblox is undoubtedly one of the most popular gaming companies in the world. In fact, it boasts of about 66 million daily users, and now it is expanding its reach further by teaming up with Sony to bring the game to PlayStation gaming consoles.
According to CNBC TV18, Roblox is planning to launch its building and creation game on Sony's PlayStation in October. Once its digital world platform debuts on Sony's game devices, the number of users is expected to grow by millions as access to the game expands to PS users.
What's more, once integrated into the PlayStation consoles, Roblox players can experience enhanced gaming as it will be fully supported by Meta's Quest mixed reality devices as well. The game is set to roll out on the Quest devices this month following the successful test that started in July.
Manuel Bronstein, Roblox's chief product officer, told Reuters during the recent annual developer conference that the game's integration to PlayStation is part of their expansion plan - to make the game available on any device or platform that people want to play it on such as mobile, desktop, gaming consoles, augmented reality, and virtual reality devices.
In any case, Roblox is also set to launch a new AI tool that will allow users to communicate via voice calls, with Roblox friends representing themselves as avatars. It was said that this feature is called "Connect," and it uses the device's camera to capture the players' facial expressions and body movements to create a perfect avatar. This is due to be activated later this year. Finally, players can expect to see Roblox this October on both PlayStation 4 and PS5, as per Destructoid.
