Samsung Electronics has recently unveiled its latest premium smartphones, aiming to challenge Apple's dominance in the market. These cutting-edge devices come equipped with multiple AI functions that are set to revolutionize the user experience.
According to Reuters, one of the standout features is the simultaneous translation of foreign language phone calls, allowing seamless communication without language barriers.
Samsung's Response to Apple's Market Dominance
Apple recently surpassed Samsung in smartphone shipments, marking the first time since 2010 that Samsung was dethroned. US News noted that to counter this, Samsung has launched its Galaxy S24 models with a strategic focus on AI capabilities. By incorporating various artificial intelligence functions, Samsung aims to attract buyers and regain its market share.
The Galaxy S24 series introduces groundbreaking AI functionalities. For the first time in a smartphone, two-way voice translation is now possible in real-time during live phone calls conducted in different languages.
The innovative "circle-to-search" function also enables users to search any part of an image on the screen using Google. These advanced features offer users unprecedented convenience and efficiency.
Samsung's on-device AI function, powered by its generative AI training, supports 13 languages. This approach ensures real-time AI capabilities while maintaining user privacy and security by not relying on cloud-based data processing. The company's focus on AI-driven user experiences sets the Galaxy S24 series apart from its competitors.
Among the standout features of the Galaxy S24 series are AI summarization and voice recording translation, providing users with quick and efficient ways to handle information. The "generative editing" functionality also enables users to enhance photos by filling in non-existent backgrounds. Moreover, the Galaxy S24 series boasts an AI-powered feature that generates non-existent frames by transforming real-time videos into slow motion.
Advantages of On-Device AI and Future Growth
Companies like Samsung and Qualcomm emphasize the security benefits of on-device AI. By processing personal data locally, user information is not sent to the cloud, ensuring enhanced privacy. Canalys, a prominent data provider, forecasts a significant growth in AI-capable smartphones, projecting that 45% of smartphones shipped by 2027 will possess AI capabilities.
The Galaxy S24 series is scheduled to be available for purchase starting January 31. In the United States, the base model will be priced at $799, while the S24 Plus and S24 Ultra, with higher specifications, will cost $999 and $1,299, respectively. Samsung has maintained the base and Plus model prices from last year, but the Ultra model has undergone a $100 price increase.
