Although the Galaxy S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra feature a 200MP primary camera, Samsung has yet to incorporate this sensor into its foldable smartphones. Presently, an audacious assertion has been made by a leaker that this may change later this year.
"There's talk of equipping the Fold 6 with the same camera sensor as the S24 Ultra instead of decreasing the battery capacity," According to leaker Revegnus on X. We're guessing that the tipster meant "increasing" the battery capacity rather than "decreasing."
Samsung Z Fold 6 Might Skip 200MP Camera Upgrade, Sticking to Proven Tech
A Galaxy Z Fold 6 equipped with the 200MP primary camera from the S24 Ultra would significantly depart from the 50MP camera found on recent Fold devices. In full-resolution images, the 200MP sensor captures an abundance of resolvable detail, whereas, in low-light conditions, 16-in-1 pixel-binning by Samsung improves image quality. However, Ultra phones have difficulty capturing moving subjects, which could prove problematic for the 200MP camera on the Z Fold 6.
Nonetheless, we would severely doubt this allegation. Prior rumors indicate that the Z Fold 6 will retain the same camera system as the Fold device from the previous year. Samsung has also consistently exhibited a cautious stance towards its high-end smartphones; therefore, the manufacturer's decision in this regard would be unforeseen.
Furthermore, integrating a 200MP sensor into a foldable phone is a complex undertaking due to the limitations imposed by the foldable design. The 200MP camera on the S24 Ultra features a 1/1.3-inch sensor, an uncommon (if any) sensor size for contemporary foldables.
Alternatively, adding a 200MP primary camera to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is not anticipated. However, we would like to see a telescopic lens on Samsung's next Fold device, as foldable cameras are already available from Google and OnePlus.
Safety Korea-Certified Samsung Battery That May Be Designed For The Galaxy Z Fold 6
Later this summer, Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, two highly anticipated foldable smartphones. As the release date approaches, supply chain leaks are beginning to disclose details about the devices.
A recent certification from the regulatory agency Safety Korea verifies the creation of a new battery that is probably designed for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The model number of the newly certified battery is EB-BF957ABY-L.
The battery images from Safety Korea depict a configuration incorporating a draw tab. This pulls tab will enhance the device’s repairability by making battery replacements easier.
Although the exact capacity of the battery is uncertain, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will probably retain the dual-battery system introduced in previous Fold models. This primary battery unit may be paired with a second, smaller battery with the pull-tab feature for more straightforward repairs.
Prior rumors indicated that larger batteries might be included in the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The possibility exists that Samsung is employing a comparable approach with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, although confirmation remains pending.
Further speculations suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may incorporate an expanded cover screen. Additionally, there is conjecture that Samsung is developing an entirely new foldable device this year featuring a rollable or dual-folding display.
There’s no firm info on when Samsung will release the following Galaxy Z-series foldable phones. However, based on past trends, it is probable that they will debut at the second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year in the third quarter of 2024. You will be informed as additional information becomes available.
