REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Dec. 06, 2017 -- A recently published report from Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, shows the Service Provider Router & Carrier Ethernet Switch market hit a record high in 3Q17, growing seven percent year-over-year. Positive regional growth in North America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, and Asia Pacific drove the market.
“Operators in North America, including Cloud and telecom, increased their investment in both core and edge router networks this quarter,” said Alam Tamboli, Senior Analyst at Dell’Oro Group. “This helped North America regain the title as the largest region by revenue demand, barely taking it back from Asia Pacific. Asia Pacific demand grew as operators in China continue to heavily invest in their backbone networks. The Europe, Middle East, and Africa region also expanded as operators invested in LTE mobile backhaul and some operators are also building out the IP infrastructure to support higher-capacity fixed networks,” Tamboli continued.
Additional highlights from the 3Q17 Router & Carrier Ethernet Switch Quarterly Report:
- Cisco and Nokia were the biggest winners in North America, while Cisco, Huawei, and Juniper each performed well in Asia Pacific.
- Cisco’s success in the Asia Pacific region was partly due to mobile backhaul sales into India and parts of Southeast Asia.
- Huawei continued to do well in China, especially in core router networks.
