As a manga about cooks fighting in competitions using food through increasingly ridiculous platforms, “Shokugeki no Soma” certainly can’t be considered normal. However, the property has stayed relatively close to reality for most of its existence. This could change in “Shokugeki no Soma” 293 when the competitors show off their so-called superhuman abilities when cooking. Will the manga finally stray into fantasy?
Unfortunately for those who might be hoping for Souma to prepare dragon meat or the like, this is just not going to happen. In “Shokugeki no Soma” 293, the competitors are likely just going to cook food in a manner which no real chef would ever consider and then present the dishes to the delight of the judges. As for what superhuman cooking is going to be done here, it likely will be another ridiculous showing of skills, which would make this segment no different from any other.
For the most part, every single aspect of this new arc has been following the same patterns as everything else. The faces of the competitors might change, but it all serves to highlight just a few select things. In “Shokugeki no Soma” 293, for example, the whole point is to shine a light on just how unbelievably awesome the main character is at preparing food.
Even when asked to do something superhuman, he is able to respond right away and the dish he prepares will likely fit the bill. On that note, his opponent is a woman who wields a chainsaw knife, which already defies normal cooking competition common sense. Still, it should prove to be quite entertaining in “Shokugeki no Soma” 293.
For those who want to know how “Shokugeki no Soma” 293 turns out, they will be able to read the next chapter on Dec. 19. Be sure to keep an eye out for that.
