‘Stranger Things’ season 2 is set to feature more on the mysterious Upside Down as it will be explored further. Meanwhile, Charlie Heaton talked about the upcoming season while addressing the kiss he shared with co-star Joe Keery in a viral video.
According to Digital Spy, composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein recently revealed more details on season 2 during the recent South By Southwest Festival. Dixon teased, "There are new characters, fun, and the Upside Down will be more of a place… you'll spend more time… So we'll make a lot more weird music this time around."
Co-creator Matt Duffer previously revealed that the second installment will pick up a year after season 1. It will also feature the return of core cast members including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Mike Wheeler, and Millie Bobby Brown.
Charlie Heaton is set to return as Jonathan Byers in the upcoming installment of Netflix’s popular horror and science-fiction web television series. Jonathan is the son of Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and older brother to Will (Noah Schnapp), who disappeared from the small town of Hawkins following a mysterious incident.
Heaton portrayed Jonathan in season 1 as a loner and an outsider in school. His character was a quiet teenager, who was a photography enthusiast. During an interview with GQ, Heaton addressed kissing his co-star Joe Keery in a hilarious viral video as well as what to expect for the much-anticipated season 2 of ‘Stranger Things.’
When asked about kissing Keery, who plays Nancy’s popular boyfriend Steve Harrington, Heaton teased, “Stonathan… I guess that’s our ‘ship’ name. It was my idea. I just thought we could give the fans what they wanted. It was a brilliant laugh… He’s got great hair. Amazing hair. He’s not a bad kisser, either.”
The video showed Heaton, Keery, and Natalia Dyer in an elevator. Dyer looks excited to be in between the two men but begins to wonder why they ignore her and look at each other instead. Heaton and Keery then indulge in a heavy make-out session while Dyer promptly leaves the elevator in shock.
When asked about season 2, Heaton admitted, “I didn’t know what to expect about where the show was going. But it trumped whatever I was thinking. A lot of things are going to be addressed.”
He was also asked about playing Jonathan, to which he replied, ““I wasn’t a total outsider at school like Jonathan, but I wasn’t necessarily the popular kid either. I felt I understood why Jonathan was the way he was - a bit of an older soul… I had a very humble upbringing like him and was also brought up by my mother. I also liked the idea of how he’s trying to discover himself and work out who he is and where he belongs.”
‘Stranger Things’ season 2 is scheduled to return on Netflix on October 31, 2017. It will consist of nine episodes.
