After months of waiting, Nintendo finally revealed the exact release date of “Super Mario Maker 2” through a new trailer. But the said teaser also possibly revealed a long list of new gameplay features.
The upcoming game lets avid fans of Super Mario to create their own levels like the first, same title installment. There more upgrades anticipated in “Super Mario Maker 2,” though, especially since it is made exclusively for the more advanced hybrid portable console Nintendo Switch.
A keen observer fan listed (via Nintendo Life) the obvious and those possibly hiding-in-plain-sight new features are arriving in “Super Mario Maker 2.” For one, they commented on how the upcoming game visibly has more varieties in building slopes.
Several difficulties in gameplay levels from earlier “Super Mario” titles were also brought to the level-editing game. The latest “Super Mario Maker 2” trailer shows the presence of wind gusts as seen in “Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels,” the angry sun that endlessly chases players from “Super Mario Bros. 3,” snakes and fences that player can climb on like the ones in “Super Mario World,” Ant Trooper enemies from “Super Mario 3D World,” and more.
The most recent “Super Mario Maker 2” trailer might not have explicitly pointed it out, but the game will most likely have a number of level themes. Players can design platforms in the desert, with snow, jungle, and forest.
Meanwhile, another noticeable change in “Super Mario Maker 2” lies in the poster. Unlike the first game creation system, the photo teasers this year almost consistently have Mario and Luigi together. The latter character was not present in the 2015 title. The same source then floats the possibility that the upcoming game might offer a two-player mode.
Thanks to the more advanced technical specs in Nintendo Switch, more features are made available to “Super Mario Maker 2” such as the use of a stylus. Unfortunately, fans in online discussions believe that the poster noticeable do not have Amiibo logos in it that may suggest that Nintendo decided to sacrifice a staple feature in the game that will be released on June 28.
