“Supernatural” season 14 opener made it obvious that the prevailing villain is Michael, who is walking around as Dean (Jensen Ackles). And when it comes down to defeating the deceitful archangel for good, killing Dean in the process is an option.
Sam (Jared Padalecki) and the others are still clueless on Dean’s whereabouts in the “Supernatural” season 14 premiere. And, according to executive producer Andrew Dabb, their problems will not end even when they find him.
Eliminating Michael is presumably one of the endgames in “Supernatural” season 14. This means that finding his current vessel — a.k.a. Dean — is only the first step.
There are several possible ways to defeat Michael in “Supernatural” season 14, Dabb told TVLine. And one of the options is killing Dean in the process. If the protagonists do not find another way, it would certainly stir up some conflict. Dabb said, “There’s a little bit of discussion of, ‘Are we going to save Dean? Are we going to kill Michael?’”
Dabb reiterated that Michael poses a “real danger” in “Supernatural” season 14 as long as he is walking freely through Dean's body. And if Sam and the others have exhausted all other options, even the real Dean would sacrifice himself so they could save the world.
On the other hand, getting Dean back safely is a more likely event in “Supernatural” season 14. Unfortunately, being held prisoner by Michael will have its effects in the long run.
“The threats to Dean are not physical, necessarily. … The dangers for him are more when Dean comes out of this, or when he’s rescued from this. What is going to be the aftereffect of it,” Dabb said about Dean’s future in “Supernatural” season 14.
Meanwhile, Sam’s search for Dean continues in “Supernatural” season 14 episode 2. Sam will find a lead in next week's installment, which he will pursue with their mother Mary (Samantha Smith) and Bobby (Jim Beaver) on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
