TOKYO and SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 13, 2016 -- Synaptics Incorporated (NASDAQ:SYNA), the leading developer of human interface solutions, today revealed its new R6A354 display driver IC (DDIC) solution specific to the automotive market. The Synaptics ClearView™ R6A354 is the industry’s first Auto DDIC to leverage image enhancing technologies including color enhancement (CE), local area auto-contrast optimization (LACO), sunlight readability enhancement (SRE), 6-axis hue control and independent white-point adjustment, thus enabling OEMs and their Tier 1 suppliers to customize screens for product differentiation.
The ClearView R6A354 supports a broad range of resolutions from HD to Full HD and accommodates screens up to 15-inches -- or larger in a cascaded DDIC implementation. R6A354 also supports free-form and curved displays, and is integrated with Image Studio, Synaptics’ unique software development kit that empowers OEMs/LCMs with tools for custom fine tuning.
“Synaptics is focused on enhancing the visual human interface for automobiles. Our automotive display driver technology delivers a high quality and flexible solution that our customers can adopt for a variety of applications in the vehicle including the center stack or the instrument cluster and beyond,” said Kevin Barber, senior vice president and general manager, Smart Displays Division, Synaptics.
ClearView R6A354 Features:
- Local Area Auto Contrast Optimization: LACO offers industry-leading contrast control, by region, to optimize the light and dark areas of an image simultaneously.
- Sunlight Readability Enhancement: SRE increases image visibility in bright sunlight by working with the ambient light sensor and automatically adjusting the gamma for improved contrast and optimal viewing.
- Independent White-Point and 6-axis Hue Control: Synaptics display drivers adjust color hues (RGBCMY) and white point independently of each other -- producing vivid images across display variations.
- One-Billion Colors: Synaptics displays deliver the smoothest, most-natural color tones across the entire display, producing the reddest reds, greenest greens and bluest blues -- and every shade in between.
