Fast-charging has become an incredibly important feature for many smartphone users and companies like Apple know this. That’s why they often brag about how fast their devices can charge during pre-launch promotions. In a recent test, the latest iPhone models were pitted against their Android counterparts to see which device would charge the fastest, and the Apple products did not get the top spot.
The test was done by Tom’s Guide, which took 10 of the best high-end smartphones in the market and tried to see which of them would charge the fastest. The methodology was quite simple, as well. It involved taking the devices that are drained of their power and plugging them in without turning them on. From there, it was just a matter of seeing how much they would charge.
According to the results, the winner is the OnePlus 5T, which has had an impressive charge rate of reaching 93 percent in 60 minutes. The LG V30 followed in second place, hitting 86 percent in the same time frame. The iPhone X, on the other hand, was only at 81 percent by the time an hour had passed and the iPhone 8 was only at 80 percent.
As TechSpot notes, this test only proves the value of the OnePlus 5T, which a lot of critics and reviewers have praised for its excellent features. The fast charging time was due to the proprietary Dash Charge technology that it uses, which involves better heat management and superior power delivery. At only $499, it also provides a lot of value for such a low price.
With regards to the placement of Apple’s products on this test, the Cupertino firm can at least take heart in knowing that its products were above those from Samsung and Google. The Google Pixel 2 only hit 75 percent of charging in one hour, for example, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 sat at a comparatively abysmal 74 percent.
