“The 100” season 6 is slated to premiere in April. Once the show returns, it will not only offer new episodes but also an entirely new world to explore with the latest addition to the cast, Jordan Green (Shannon Kook).
There were speculations that the “The 100” season 6 was not going to happen. That possibility actually coincided with the storyline that Earth became ultimately uninhabitable hinting that the end of the show is near. But things obviously worked well and the series is now looking to premiere for its sixth season in April. The Earth’s complete destruction also paved the way to introduce an entirely new planet and storyline to be explored this year.
“The 100” season 6 will pick up from the protagonists' arrival at the Two-Sun Planet. Their new world was like Monty’s (Christopher Larkin) final gift to his friends as he tracked it down before dying so Jordan, Bellamy (Bob Morley), Clarke (Eliza Taylor), and the others will have a new, sustainable habitat.
The title of “The 100” season 6 episode 1 was revealed to be “Sanctum.” The word may refer to a place of refuge or a holy place. So fans can already look forward to the premiere episode focusing on further introducing the Two-Sun Planet.
Meanwhile, Jordan is Monty and Harper’s (Chelsey Reist) son. The latter gave birth to him after she and Monty decided not to go to a cryo-sleep. It allowed them to spend as much time as they can with Jordan before dying. Bellamy and Clarke are, technically, meeting Jordan for the first time. But he is also the only memory they have of their close friends so it is going to be interesting how they will connect with each other in “The 100” season 6.
Aside from the new planet, note that showrunner Jason Rothenberg has practically ditched the same name novel series where the show is originally based. So quite literally, “The 100” season 6 offers an uncharted territory — story-wise — for the characters and for the fans.
This means that how the viewers would respond to the entirely new chapter of the show is hard to predict at the moment. And it is also difficult to tell whether The CW will pursue another installment beyond “The 100” season 6. “Sanctum” airs on Tuesday, April 30, at 9 p.m. ET.
