‘The Flash’ may find its leading lady in ‘Dope’ actress Kiersey Clemons. Clemons is rumored to play Ezra Miller’s on-screen best friend and love interest Iris West. Meanwhile, Rita Ora and Lucy Boynton are also in the running for the female lead role.
According to Variety, Clemons is in the running to play the female lead in Rick Famuyiwa’s upcoming live-action big screen adaptation of DC’s ‘The Flash’. Insiders claim that Clemons will be playing the character Iris West although this is yet to be confirmed by Warner Bros.
Iris West is Barry Allen’s best friend and eventual love interest. She is a journalist for the Central City Picture News. The character is played by Candice Patton in The CW’s ‘The Flash’ television series opposite Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash.
Clemons is best known for her role as Cassandra “Diggy” Andrews on Famuyiwa’s critically-acclaimed comedy-drama film ‘Dope’. She also worked on the Disney Channel Original Movie ‘Cloud 9’ as well as in the comedy film ‘Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising’. She also had roles on several television series including ‘Transparent’, ‘Eye Candy’, and ‘Extant’.
The 22-year old actress and singer is not the only talent in the running for the lead female role. Rita Ora of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ fame and Lucy Boynton of ‘Sing Street’ are also being eyed, according to /Film.
Miller is return as the titular character in his own standalone film after making his DC Extended Universe (DCEU) debut in Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’. He will also be reprising his role in the highly anticipated ‘Justice League’ film scheduled to premiere on November 2017. Miller’s solo film is expected to begin principal photography later this year.
The 23-year old actor is best known for his roles on films such as ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’, ‘Madame Bovary’, and ‘Trainwreck’. He also scored a role on the upcoming big screen adaptation of the ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off series ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’.
‘The Flash’ is an upcoming adventure-drama and superhero film directed by Rick Famuyiwa and written by Seth Grahame-Smith. It is produced by Jon Berg, Geoff Johns, and Richard Suckle with Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder executive producing. It is scheduled to be released sometime in 2018.
