‘The OA’ season 2 has yet to be renewed on Netflix but show creator and actress Brit Marling admitted that she and co-creator Zal Batmanglij already mapped out a possible storyline for the continuation of Prarie’s story.
During a recent episode of Entertainment Weekly’s ‘What to Watch’ podcast, Marling revealed, “The truth is, before Zal and I started doing this, we thought you could potentially get caught up in doing something like this for many years. So you better be sure all those years of your life are going to be interesting, so that’s why we spent a good year and a half upfront before we even wrote the first chapter, designing the labyrinth and making sure there was something at its center that would feel worthwhile to arrive at.”
She continued, “So there is a there there, but whether or not we’ll be able to get there is another question. But we always had an intention for where a second season would start and where it would end. It was important to know all those things upfront. So I guess we’ll just have to see if we get to tell it.”
Netflix’s new science-fiction drama web television series starred Marling as main protagonist Prairie Johnson. Season 1 was released last December 16, 2016 and composed of eight episodes. A possible season 2 renewal it is yet to be confirmed.
Although the series received general favorable reception for its thought-provoking narrative and imagery, it was also criticized for plot holes left unanswered. According to Bustle, one of the questions season 2 needs to address is whether Prairie’s story held some truth. The miraculous return of her vision has also been left hanging.
‘The OA’ is a mystery drama web television series created and executive produced by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij. It is produced by Plan B Entertainment and Anonymous Content and stars Brit Marling, Emory Cohen, Scott Wilson, Phyllis Smith, Alice Krige, Patrick Gibson and Brendan Meyer.
