Will we see another major death on “The Walking Dead”?
Some fans of the show think so, following reports of actress Sonequa Martin-Green landing a lead role in the upcoming CBS All Access series “Star Trek: Discovery.” Martin-Green plays Sasha Williams on the AMC zombie drama.
Entertainment Weekly, who first broke the news, said Martin-Green fulfills former showrunner Bryan Fuller’s vision to cast a diverse group of actors to play in the upcoming television series. Back in August, he shared to reporters, “Star Trek started with a wonderful expression of diversity in its cast … we’re continuing that tradition. We wanted to paint a picture of Starlet that’s indicative of encountering people who are much more different than we are.”
But what does this mean to Sasha’s fate in “The Walking Dead”? Den of Geek said Marten-Green was pretty vague about her character development in the show, most probably because of the fact that she is duty-bound to keep both shows’ details a secret.
She told Entertainment Weekly, “Well, I can’t say anything. I can say that the story [on The Walking Dead] is as impactful and powerful and dynamic as it always has been, and there’s nothing to worry about where that’s concerned.”
Although showrunner Scott Gimple squash rumors about Sasha’s potential exit in the series citing Martin-Green’s range, Den of Geek said the number of character-inspired tropes have already been played out in both “The Walking Dead” and its spinoff.
Catch the return of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 February 12 on AMC.
