This US Company Wants To Embed Microchips In Its Employees

Depending on one’s point of view, putting microchips in people can either be a good thing or the stuff of nightmares. Yet, this is exactly what one company in the US is offering to its workers. Before everyone starts freaking out, however, it’s worth noting that these microchips are basically just walking IDs. It allows them to access certain amenities and open doors while in the vicinity.

The pioneering company is Three Square Market (32M), a brand that sells vending machines. In the press release that it recently released, the company explained what the microchip implant offer is all about and what it can do for employees.

“Three Square Market (32M) is offering implanted chip technology to all of their employees on August 1st, 2017. Employees will be implanted with a RFID chip allowing them to make purchases in their break room micro market, open doors, login to computers, use the copy machine, etc. This program, offered by 32M, is optional for all employees. The company is expecting over 50 staff members to be voluntarily chipped,” the press release reads.

It would seem that the company is teaming up with the Swedish tech firm BioHax International for the implants. The chips themselves will apparently be no bigger than a grain of rice, which should minimize the discomfort that the employees would feel.

Something like this is certainly a rare development, as microchip implants are not exactly the most popular concepts. It would be akin to serving robot overlords in the minds of many, which is why there are a lot of strained nerves over the development in artificial intelligence.

In any case, merging machine with man is not exactly anything new, Futurism reports. There have been plenty of medical procedures that are available today that make use of implanted machines such as pacemakers.
