Hotel Gajoen Tokyo is now offering a Retro Kimono Plan, which includes a kimono rental and fitting, hairstyling, admission to the Hundred-Step Staircase, and lunch or afternoon tea at one of its restaurants.
The Retro Kimono Plan consists of kimono rental and fitting, hairstyling, entry to the Hundred-Step Staircase, and lunch or afternoon tea at one of Hotel Gajoen Tokyo's restaurants.
Customers can pick from 50 different kimonos and 50 various obis (kimono sashes), all of which are from the Taisho period (1912-1926).
With over 2,500 kimonos, obis, and accessory combinations, the package also includes sandals, hair accessories, and a bag to complete your retro outfit.
It costs 17,000 yen for afternoon tea and 18,000 yen for a full lunch. It's assumed that you'll take a lot of images, and if you'd like some professional assistance, a professional photography service can be added for 5,500 yen.
Hotel Gajoen Tokyo touts itself as a "museum hotel" and is located in Tokyo's Meguro area.
The structure houses various pieces of great art, as well as a lovely and expansive garden, and its ancient Hundred-Step Staircase, which is depicted above and embellished with painted ceilings, has been recognized as a tangible cultural property by the city.
It's an ideal setting for wearing a kimono.
Reservations for the Retro Kimono Plan can be made on the hotel's website until June 12th.
