Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee and the first woman ever to reach that glory, Hillary Clinton, wife of former president Bill Clinton and former secretary of state under Obama administration has overwhelming won the last democratic primary in Washington DC. She won 78.7 percent of all votes thus securing 16 out of the 20 pledged delegates.
In the race, Hillary Clinton has won 2,219 pledged delegates, just 164 short of the number required to secure the outright nomination. On the other hand, Bernie Sanders has secured 1,832 delegates. It is estimated that in the convention in July at least 581 super-delegates will support Mrs. Clinton as their presidential nominee.
Since the last primary in six states including California, Democratic Party members, including President Barrack Obama has started working to unite the Democratic Party. Even Bernie Sanders, who just refused to quit the race, sounded to accommodate Clinton’s nomination. Today he and Mrs. Clinton will be meeting to discuss over Democratic Party strategies, in order to beat Republican nominee Donald Trump.
