“Westworld” Season 3 is reportedly considering adding Antonio Banderas to its already impressive cast, with the “Desperado” actor playing the role of a villain. Little is known about Banderas’ character although he is supposedly going to be in the same category as Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem), THS reported.
As a refresher, Silva is the main antagonist in “Skyfall” who has been portrayed as a highly skilled cyberterrorist and a brutally efficient man. Fans are speculating that Banderas may play a former employee of Delos who is seeking vengeance against the company. With the actor’s addition, “Westworld” Season 3 is expected to add more layers to the complexity of the show’s storyline.
The previous installment received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike as show creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan employed a lot of time-jumps and plot twists in season 2. The story became so convoluted that even the actors in the show were having trouble keeping up with the plot. Hopefully, some of the complexities in the previous installment get untangled in “Westworld” Season 3 in order to give audiences a much-needed room to process these twists and turns.
Right now, it’s still unclear how Bandera’s character will influence Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and the hosts’ desire to break into the real world. Lisa Joy already confirmed that the hosts will indeed escape the park they are housed into although how exactly this will be portrayed remains to be seen. It would be interesting to see how these non-human sentient beings operate outside the park and how their nature will manifest in “Westworld” Season 3.
Fans have already expressed their desire for the writers to expand the background of the hosts and develop their own personality. Whatever the case, it seems that “Westworld” Season 3 is shaping up to be another multi-leveled plotline that will take audiences on a maze-like journey. As for when the sci-fi series will return, HBO has yet to announce the date of the release but fans are hoping it would come out as early as 2019.
