Despite the glaring flaws in the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), it would seem that players are still flocking to it in droves. The console title already reached four million players and it seems the PUBG team is so grateful, it is giving away free stuff. This comes in the form of 30,000 Battle Points and is available to players who buy the game and create their characters before January 31st.
As Forbes reports, PUBG is currently number four on Xbox One’s most-played games, right behind Call of Duty: World War II, which sits at number three. The number one spot, however, is currently held by Fortnite thanks to its Battle Royale mode, which is free. Topping out at 45 million players across the different platforms can do that for a game.
In any case, PUBG now has a total of 32 million global players once the four million on the Xbox One is added to the 28 million on PC. The biggest advantage of PUBG, as opposed to Fortnite Battle Royale, is that every single one of those 32 million players paid for the game.
As such, it’s understandable that the PUBG company would be extremely grateful to its rabid fan base, hence the reward. The 30,000 Battle Points that they’ll receive can be used to buy loot crates and get exotic items from skins to clothing apparel.
As already noted, the console version of the game was riddled with bugs when it launched. However, Microsoft recently released a patch that fixed a significant number of these issues, TechCrunch reports. This makes it the perfect time for players new to the game to buy it and create an account. Not only will they get free in-game currency to buy loot crates with, they won’t have to suffer through or laugh at all the bugs in the game.
