TNT has recently announced that “Animal Kingdom” Season 4 will be airing on May 28. Along with the reveal is a new trailer for the fourth installment. And so far, everything points that the upcoming entry will be another hit.
As Smurf (Ellen Barkin) now returns from her incarceration, she’s looking to take over the reins of the family business once again. However, she’s going to meet some resistance from her crew/family as the boys have now tasted what it feels like acting without Smurf’s permission. Indeed, the teaser clip of “Animal Kingdom” Season 4 already shown that they’re willing to conduct a big heist without Smurf’s knowledge, Screen Rant reported.
But given that Smurf has made a career out of being a criminal, she knows that the Cody boys are planning something. As such, she’s using J (Finn Cole) as her eyes and ears to “keep her in the loop.” The problem is that J himself is plotting his own scheme to take over the family business. To make matters worse, Pope’s mental condition will be degenerating further in “Animal Kingdom” Season 4.
And while he appears to have found an outlet for his rage in the form of mix martial arts, it’s only a matter of time before the oldest Cody snaps and takes his frustration out on someone. This, too, has been hinted in the trailer of “Animal Kingdom” Season 4 as Pope was seen confronting Smurf about her overall intentions and how he has treated him so far.
And if all the internal fighting isn’t enough, a new criminal crew will be introduced in the upcoming installment. While this isn’t official just yet, it’s likely that newcomers Jon Beavers and Grant Harvey will be part of this group. Beavers will be playing an easy-going criminal called Jake, while Harvey will portray the emotionally broken vet named Colin. It’s speculated that both Jake and Colin have been part of Smurf’s crew back in the day and it would be interesting to see how their addition will impact the story of “Animal Kingdom” Season 4.
