Apple is reportedly ramping up testing for four new M4 Macs, with an anticipated release of the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac models later this year. Each model is expected to feature the latest M4 processors, promising enhanced performance.

Apple Testing Four M4 Macs Ahead of Launch

As per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has intensified testing for four new Mac models that have an M4 chip. October could see the release of new MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac models powered by Apple's M4 processors, which are set to be unveiled this year.

According to developer logs, all four of the computers feature M4 base-level processors. A 10-core CPU and GPU are equipped in three of the Macs. This is the first system with an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU; the others have all been M4 configurations. With either 16 or 32 GB of Unified Memory, any of the four M4 Macs can be yours.

Both the 256GB and 512GB iPad Pro models use the same M4 processor, which has a 9-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. On the other hand, the 1TB and 2TB models employ chips with a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. You might recognize the chip in the top-tier iPad as the one that will power certain Mac models.

M4 Pro and M4 Max Processors Offer Top Performance

The more expensive Mac minis, 14-inch MacBook Pros, and 16-inch MacBook Pros all employ M4 Pro or M4 Max processors, but Gurman doesn't say anything about them. With greater maximum RAM and more CPU and GPU cores, the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips would be the best of the best.

MacRumors shares that the developer logs did not show any higher-end processors, so it is unclear if Apple is merely releasing cheaper devices with the regular M4 CPU or if there are plans for M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max models.

The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are supposedly getting a makeover, and Gurman has already stated that the upcoming smaller ‌Mac mini‌will have the choice to use either the M4 or M4 Pro chips.
