Apple is urging its suppliers, including LG and Samsung, to ramp up investments in laptop-sized OLED displays. This move hints that OLED MacBook Pro models could launch sooner than expected, promising deeper blacks, vibrant colors, and enhanced battery life over current mini-LED versions.
Apple Pressures Suppliers to Ramp Up OLED Production
A recent report from TrendForce states that Apple is urging its suppliers to increase their investments in giant OLED screens that are the size of laptops. That the business is keen on including the OLED screen in subsequent MacBook Pro iterations is evident from this.
According to a new claim, Apple will start utilizing organic light-emitting diode displays for MacBooks in 2026 or 2027, even though it was previously said that OLED MacBook Pro models would not be released for at least a few more years.
The two main display manufacturers for Apple goods, including the iPhone, are LG and Samsung. These same companies will also create OLED panels for the MacBook Pro models. The newest MacBook Pro model has a mini-LED screen, which is far superior to regular LCD panels in terms of display quality.
LG and Samsung Lead OLED Development for Apple
With the introduction of the new M4 MacBook Pro models, Apple also enhanced the display technology in a covert manner, as was recently shown.
With the addition of quantum-dot technology, the gadgets now have enhanced color accuracy and motion performance. The usage of the same technology in future OLED MacBook Pro models by the corporation is still up in the air.
Compared to the present mini-LED panels, the picture quality on the MacBook Pro models with OLED displays would be far better. Deeper blacks, more saturation, and improved dynamic range are what we can anticipate from the gadgets, according to WCCFTECH.
OLED MacBook Pro Models Promise Improved Battery Life
The combination of these features with the chip's low power consumption will make it possible for future MacBook Pro models to have even longer battery lives than the present 24-hour mark on the entry-level M4 model.
A lot of people think Apple will implement the tandem OLED display on MacBook Pro models after seeing it on the M4 iPad Pro. Just like the OLED iPad Pro models, this will put the OLED MacBook Pro models ahead of the pack in terms of screen quality.
