While most sources have indicated that the upcoming iPhone SE, most likely to be called iPhone SE 4, will have a similar design to the main iPhone 14 model, including a notch for Face ID, a shady rumor now claims that the smartphone will have the Dynamic Island instead.
iPhone SE 4 Will Have Dynamic Island Instead of a Notch
The latest claim comes from the leaker @MajinBuOfficial on X, formerly known as Twitter. In addition to the Dynamic Island, he stated that the next iPhone SE might feature a vertical rear camera hump, similar to the one speculated for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, but with only one camera rather than two.
According to the information he provided, the rear microphone and LED flash would be mounted behind the camera lens in a pill-shaped hump. @MajinBuOfficial just revealed rumored iPhone 16 schematics, which are thought to be accurate.
However, he has a mixed track record with Apple rumors and stressed that this iPhone SE information is currently unconfirmed. Furthermore, Apple is most likely prototyping many iPhone SE variants, and the design may not be finalized.
The next iPhone SE is scheduled to be introduced in 2025, almost three years after the current model was produced, but this timeline may vary.
Other Rumored Specifications of the Upcoming iPhone SE 4
Apple's storage options are often a source of contention. Given that the company's "Pro" iPhones still have a meager 128GB of internal storage, the iPhone SE 4's entry-level configuration will most likely contain little more than half of that (64GB). Again, considering that the gadget is still in its early stages of development, no specific information is available at this moment.
The latest speculations are making many excited since they suggest that the iPhone SE 4 would have a single 48MP back camera, a significant advance from the 12MP rear-facing camera in its previous edition, but you need not hold your breath.
However, if the rumor is accurate and the next iPhone SE 4 has a 48MP camera, similar to the one found in the iPhone 15, it will certainly pose a challenge to the Pixel 7a's claim as the "best mid-range camera."
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to employ the same battery as the base model iPhone 14, with leaked prototypes showing lithium-ion batteries (A2863) used in prior Apple models. Internal records support this development, stating that the capacity has increased from 2018mAh in the iPhone SE 3 to 3279mAh in the future iPhone SE 4.
This A2863 battery significantly jumps over 1250mAh over the third-generation iPhone SE, potentially resulting in longer battery life. This decision (using the same battery as in prior smartphones) is consistent with Apple's pattern, as the second-generation iPhone SE shared a battery with the older iPhone 8.
