For just a single dollar, customers can once again enjoy this iconic beverage at participating Applebee's locations. Chief Marketing Officer, Joel Yashinsky, revealed that the overwhelming demand from Applebee's guests played a significant role in the decision to bring back the "Dollarita."
"It's the number one thing our guests ask for," Yashinsky acknowledged. This coveted drink has undoubtedly maintained its popularity and appeal among Applebee's loyal patrons.
To promote the revival of the "Dollarita," Applebee's has crafted a captivating 15-second commercial, the Insider reported. This energetic commercial is accompanied by the legendary opening of Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" and will air on Sunday, captivating Margarita enthusiasts nationwide.
Responding to Changing Customer Habits
The parent company of Applebee's, Dine Brands, has recognized a shift in customer spending habits. CEO John Peyton stated that guests are becoming more cautious with their expenditures. In response, Applebee's has witnessed an increased selection of limited-time and value offers from their menu. During the second quarter, 19% of guests opted for these choices, marking a notable increase from the previous quarter.
As per Food and Wine, the inception of "Dollarita" in October 2017 initially raised concerns among franchisees. Some worried it would discourage food orders or result in excessively intoxicated patrons. However, Steve Joyce, the former CEO of Dine Brands, shared that "Dollarita" played a pivotal role in revitalizing the chain. After its introduction, Applebee's experienced four consecutive quarters of impressive same-store sales growth.
A Refreshing Twist to an Iconic Favorite
With the re-release of the "Dollarita," Applebee's has slightly adjusted the recipe. While still featuring tequila and lime, the beverage now contains triple sec. This exciting modification adds a new dimension to the beloved drink, tantalizing the taste buds of both new and seasoned "Dollarita" enthusiasts.
Despite the impact of inflation, Applebee's remains committed to offering the "Dollarita" at its original $1 price point. According to Yashinsky, the stability of the costs associated with tequila, triple sec, and lime over the past six years allows the company to maintain this unbeatable offer. While no specific end date for the "Dollarita" promotion was provided, Yashinsky hinted that it is a limited-time offer.
