BIGBANG’s TOP is set to leave the army earlier than his original schedule. The idol singer’s discharge date was moved twice, and there are reasons why this happened.
While his fans are rejoicing since their favorite BIGBANG member is very close to completing his assignment as a public service worker at the Yongsan District City Hall, there are people who are bashing the decision. They are criticizing the move because the singer had scandals involving marijuana use and alleged special treatment from the office that he was serving.
What were they saying about TOP’s early discharge
As per the comments collected by Kpopmap, some said that he should stay longer in the army or do not come out at all. One also seemingly warned the BIGBANG member by saying that he should quit from the entertainment industry as soon as he is discharged or suffer from endless criticisms while he promotes.
Someone also indirectly called TOP as a “bad guy” when he or she said: “I’m reminded of the saying that the bad guys sleep at night better.” One commenter even dropped YG Entertainment’s former CEO’s name and seemed to accuse them of bribing the officials for his early release when she asked: “Who’s pulling strings for you? Hyun Suk’s got a lot of power.”
Why TOP is being discharged early
There are malicious accusations like these with regards to BIGBANG TOP’s early discharge from the military, but the truth is that the singer could not possibly make a way so he can come out earlier. His original release date of August was moved to July 8 because a new rule was implemented in the army.
All the men who enlisted starting in 2017 would be granted a shorter time in the service. The officials shortened the time that the Korean males are required to serve as a soldier, and this new rule took effect last year. Social service workers are now dismissed from the service at 27 days earlier.
TOP’s new discharge date
BIGBANG TOP’s new discharge date is July 6 because July 8 falls on Monday when there is no work at the Yongsan City Hall. The singer relayed to his fans that there will be no special discharge ceremony, but he will greet everyone once he finishes his duties and comes out of the Yongsan office.
