Restaurants Brands Iberia revealed that it would be putting up a Burger King in Rua dos Vales, Lagoa, Portugal, which would be the municipality’s first fast-food restaurant.
The new Burger King will create 25 jobs and could still increase over the summer.
It is also expected to attract more young people to the area.
According to the Mayor of Lagoa, Luís Encarnação, having the Burger King within the municipality is much better for them as people would no longer have to leave Lagoa to enjoy this type of food.
Encarnação added that it is an anchor investment that can benefit small and large companies in the county and will not directly compete with local businesses.
He expects people passing along the N125 road to stop to eat and perhaps visit other spaces in the city, which can boost the county’s economy.
While the new Burger King will be just 800 meters from the Jacinto Correia 2nd and 3rd Cycle School, the mayor guaranteed that all legal requirements are met.
