UFC, an American mixed martial arts organization, is getting into NFT, and it has teamed up with Crypto.com to release its first non-fungible tokens. These will be the organization’s first official NFTs, and they will be out this week.
The crypto trading company announced earlier this week that it had been authorized by the Ultimate Fighting Championship to release its blockchain-based digital collectibles. Based on the reports, the upcoming UFC NFT collection will consist of digital collectibles that include event posters, fighters’ avatars, fight night paintings, and fighters’ profiles.
According to CoinTelegraph, the collection will be called the “UFC 268 Packs,” and the coming game “UFC 268: Usman vs. Covington 2” will be featured in the event fight posters collectible as well as belt designs. It was said that the UFC NFTs will be available and remain accessible to interested fans until supplies last so everyone can buy the collectibles until the items run out.
It was reported in July that UFC inked a $175-million sponsorship deal with Crypto.com, and the mixed martial arts entertainment firm’s president, Dana White, revealed about the partnership during a press conference at Madison Square Garden in New York. He shared that it was UFC’s largest deal yet.
The team-up also serves as UFC’s first step towards the fusion of blockchain and the sports industry. Crypto.com is being endorsed by the “Bourne Identity” actor, Matt Damon, after he recently joined forces with the company. Another latest partnership that Crypto.com secured this month is with the National Basketball Association’s Philadelphia 76ers.
“UFC is a premier global sports brand with legions of avid fans worldwide, and we’re excited to leverage our technology to provide unique fan engagement opportunities and security for their collectibles,” Kris Marszalek, co-founder, and chief executive officer of Crypto.com, said in a statement. “We want to help UFC fans secure and engage with their collectibles.”
Meanwhile, the drop this week for the UFC NFT will include 2,999 collectibles with varying rarity. There will be limited edition shards, belt plates, and posters based on the UFC 268 event. Buyers and collectors will automatically be entered into the UFC 268 Collection Sweepstakes, where they will have a chance to get fight pass subscriptions, UFC gift cards, and more.
