If one would check on Google what are the most anticipated video games in 2019, they would definitely find “Cyberpunk 2077” in multiple search results. Is there any chance of it happening?
The year 2018 was quite a big one to video game fans waiting for “Cyberpunk 2077.” Developer CD Projekt Red finally showcased a more telling trailer at E3. Then they followed up with the reveal of a 48-minute gameplay walkthrough last August.
CD Projekt Red remains secretive about the game’s launch schedule. The developer will not even tell fans anything about the release date window for “Cyberpunk 2077.” However, reports suggested that information from other sources might have already “leaked” the game’s possible launch in 2019.
One of the notable sources came out in December 2018 and have supported the speculations that “Cyberpunk 2077” might be out by late 2019. Reddit user dr4kun translated a document from Stockwatch.pl, a deemed reliable Polish website for stock market analysis, estimating a great market reception for the game.
First, Stockwatch.pl stood by their earlier prediction that “Cyberpunk 2077” will be released within Q4 of 2019. Then it was estimated that the first-person RPG has the potential to sell up to 19 million copies shortly after its launch, which translates to a possible income of up to $525 million.
Back in October 2018, Turkish publisher Bilkom supposedly “leaked” on Twitter that “Cyberpunk 2077” is coming in 2019. The original post has since been removed but curious fans can still check it out here.
It is important to note that CD Projekt Red has been insistent they have not announced a release date yet, which is true. So no matter the reputation of these sources, it is best to wait for the official word from the developers.
On the other hand, what are the chances that the above-mentioned bits of leaked information are accurate? Wccftech suggests that a 2019 launch for “Cyberpunk 2077” is somehow possible considering that CD Projekt Red confirmed last August that the game is already at a playable stage. Newsweek further speculates that more details could be announced in summer if the game is really slated to be released this year.
