Tesla’s lead Cybertruck engineer, Wes Morrill, has unveiled plans for a 'stuck detection' feature to help drivers navigate challenging off-road scenarios, a response to growing concerns over the vehicle's performance in tough conditions.

Cybertruck's New Feature Under Consideration

Wes Morrill, the lead engineer for Cybertruck, revealed in a post on X that he had contemplated the possibility of incorporating a "stuck detection" feature into the Cybertruck. This would be designed to assist drivers in resolving all of the problems that he has observed in the viral videos of Cybertrucks.

Morrill claims that his concept for "stuck detection" is a pop-up feature that appears on the dashboard screen of the Cybertruck every time the vehicle determines that the driver is trapped and offers advice to assist them in getting out of the situation.

Mashable elaborates that, for instance, "air down tires, try using trail assist, raise ride height, try sand mode, etc." are some examples of advice that "stuck detection" could provide to drivers.

"No one is an expert the first time they drive off-road but anyone can learn," he added.

Morrill Defends Off-Road Capabilities

In response to another X user's criticism of Tucker Carlson—the right-wing talk show host—following the latter's video of his Cybertruck getting stuck in the mud—the chief engineer for the vehicle explained his notion.

Although there is a possibility that inexperienced truck drivers are partially to blame for the Tesla vehicle becoming stuck, it appears that this is only one manifestation of a more widespread problem.

Vehicle Recalls Address Manufacturing Issues

Problems with the Cybertruck's design and manufacturing have been demonstrated in multiple cases. Most notably, a recall was issued for Cybertrucks due to an issue with the accelerator pedal being stuck, which has subsequently been resolved.

In the event that "stuck detection" for the Cybertruck moves beyond the concept stage, Mashable will continue to monitor this subject and offer updates.
