Just a little more than a month of wrapping up the third and final season of the Will & Grace revival, Debra Messing is all set to star in a new comedy—East Wing, on Starz.
Messing will take on the role of Hollis Carlisle who worked at the White House as the social secretary in the 1980s under then President Ronald Reagan.
What makes the situation hilarious is that Hollis has social anxiety disorder said to be crippling, so we could just imagine Messing essaying that role.
What's more, according to Variety, Hollis will have to juggle her job, her anxiety, a husband who feels threatened with her job, and rebellious children while also dealing with the Chief of Staff of First Lady Nancy Reagan.
The story will be closer to home as Ali Wentworth, the creator and writer of East Wing, is basing the story on her mother's experience when she was the social secretary in the 1980s. Liz Tuccilo will also be co-writing the comedy show.
Cinemablend reports that Wentworth will also be acting beside Messing as Kelly Forbes, Hollis best friend but is also envious of her career, probably because she is a stay at home mom.
Messing and Wentworth are also the shows executive producers along with Tuccillo, Molly Madden and Howard Klein.
Messing and Wentworth probably talked about this upcoming comedy show during the final season of Will & Grace as Wentworth had a small part in it.
Starz president for original programming, Christina Davis, expressed high hopes for East Wing saying that the charm that Messing will be putting into her character is sure to make Hollis relatable and captivating to the audience.
Messing bagged an Emmy for her role as Grace Adler in Will & Grace, an NBC comedy series.
