As the coronavirus pandemic is becoming increasingly difficult to contain, many countries are declaring war on the disease as the cases continue to rise. Despite President Donald Trump’s assurance of a vaccine, health experts are concerned that he may be spreading misleading information even after a number of briefings.
The number of infected people is increasing with only a very slim margin of cases having fully recovered with bigger numbers of fatalities recorded every day. Express reports that Trump has had to be briefed a few times by several health experts who were present during the Cabinet meeting and during the meeting with pharmaceutical companies. It appears that Trump may have misunderstood the actual time frame for the development of a vaccine as he has been corrected during the meetings.
During this meeting with the pharmaceutical executives, Trump said he heard that a vaccine for the coronavirus could be ready in a span of three to four months. However, the executives and experts had to repeatedly correct him regarding the actual timeframe needed to develop, test, and distribute a vaccine, which would be a year. Despite the constant corrections and briefings, it appears that Trump may still not understand, which led Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, having to clarify the facts with the press and the public so as to prevent misleading information.
Trump and the experts have constantly revealed conflicting messages regarding the coronavirus situation.
Meanwhile, several states are to cast their votes on Super Tuesday, and Trump has taken to Twitter to take a few jabs at former New York mayor and Democrat presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg, which he has often done. This time, Trump dissed Bloomberg in several tweets. “Mini Mike Bloomberg can never recover from his incompetent debate performances. Also as mayor, he was very bad under pressure - a choker!” tweeted Trump.
Trump also warned Texas and Oklahoma regarding the supposed effects of voting for Bloomberg. “Texas & Oklahoma: Mini Mike Bloomberg will kill your drilling, fracking, and pipelines. Petroleum-based “anything” is dead. Energy jobs gone. Don’t vote for Mini Mike!”
Bloomberg is putting up a good front in the Democratic race despite Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders becoming front runners to become the sole presidential candidate on the side of the Democrats.
