Even after leaving office, former President Donald Trump does not intend on leaving politics soon. As Trump is set to face a host of legal battles, he has established his office in Florida.
Trump has already set up his ‘Office of the Former President’ in Florida. His post-White House office will seek to further the agenda of his administration as well as take up the duties that come with being a former president. This appears to be in line with his final remarks to his family and close allies before departing Washington on the morning of inauguration day when Joe Biden took his oath as the new president. Trump did not attend his successor’s swearing-in compared to his immediate predecessors who were all present and has remained under the radar since leaving.
“The Office will be responsible for managing President Trump’s correspondence, public statements, appearances, and official activities to advance the interests of the United States and carry on the agenda of the Trump administration through advocacy, organizing, and public activism,” said the official statement that made the announcement.
Prior to finally departing Washington last week and shortly after his loss to Biden was projected, Trump and his allies contested the results in swing states that went to the Democratic leader. Over 60 lawsuits were filed and eventually dismissed, citing electoral or voter fraud yet producing no proof. Other officials have also refuted the claims of which Trump continued to insist, which ultimately resulted in an insurrection at the Capitol by his supporters to stop the formal counting of electoral votes. Trump was then impeached by the House and now faces trial before the Senate.
Meanwhile, infectious diseases expert and now chief expert under the Biden administration Dr. Anthony Fauci shared what he thought of Trump’s infamous suggestion of injecting bleach in order to kill the coronavirus. Speaking with CNN, Dr. Fauci, who was often at odds with the now-former president, shared that he was shocked with the suggestion then expressed his concern over what his loyal supporters would end up doing.
“I could see what was going to happen,” said Dr. Fauci. “You’re going to have people who hear that from the president and they’re going to start doing dangerous and foolish things.”
