Nancy Pelosi recently made headlines after she ripped off Donald Trump’s speech at the State of the Union Address.
Following the shocking incident, the speaker of the United States House of Representatives was branded “classless” by Trump’s supporters.
After the SOTU, Pelosi was asked why she decided to rip apart Trump’s speech, and she said that it’s because she couldn’t find one single true information in it.
“Because it was the courteous thing to do considering the alternatives. I tore it up. I was trying to find one page with the truth on it. I couldn’t,” she said.
The White House fired back at Pelosi for disrespecting the POTUS.
“Speaker Pelosi just ripped up: One of our last surviving Tuskegee Airmen. The survival of a child born at 21 weeks. The mourning families of Ricky Jones and Kayla Mueller. A service member’s reunion with his family. That’s her legacy,” they tweeted.
Conservatives also criticized Pelosi on social media.
“@SpeakerPelosi your behavior in tearing up the print of our president’s SOTU has to be the most childish, tactless, classless, immature, petty, and disgusting behavior exhibited by anyone – you did a disservice to women everywhere,” Twitter user @rigby_jacqui said.
“Pelosi is an embarrassment to our country. Tearing up the speech was childish and classless and she owes an apology to the American people for such an atrocity. If she doesn’t apologize, she should resign and/or be impeached for her position. Get this nut case out of the House,” Twitter user @FaatuieseLaura said.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump’s reaction to Pelosi tearing up her husband’s SOTU speech also made headlines earlier this week. The FLOTUS arrived at the venue with a huge smile on her face especially since she received a standing ovation.
But after seeing what Pelosi did, Melania’s face turned stone-cold and serious. However, the first lady still didn’t make it seem as though she was offended by the gesture, and she continued to applaud Trump.
“It’s a toss-up for who looks unhappier in her reaction shots: Nancy Pelosi or Melania Trump? #SOTU,” Twitter user @MikeSalvatore10 said.
