The quality of “Fairy Tail 2018” has been declining since the show started and in the most recent episodes, the lack of commitment from the studio is really showing. This is not likely to change in “Fairy Tail 2018” Episode 29 where the formula will stay the same as it has ever been. A powerful person shows up, beats up bad guys, and a more powerful person shows up to fight the first guy. Gildarts would be that guy in the next episode.
As the Anime News Network points out, Gildarts is basically being used as a plot device that is more akin to a secret weapon than anything else. Then again, what exactly about this arrangement is new? This series has always relied on cheap twists and increasingly incomprehensible story structures to draw eyes. Considering the declining interest of both viewers and publications, it is amazing that “Fairy Tail 2018” Episode 29 caught any attention, at all.
There really is no need to even watch the upcoming episode for those who have already seen other guild versus guild conflicts before. “Fairy Tail 2018” Episode 29 will end just as past episodes of previous arcs have ended. At this point, the only reason to even tune in is to allow one’s mind to be numbed by the pointless battles and the repetitive cycles of winning and losing.
While the appearance of Gildarts in “Fairy Tail 2018” Episode 29 might spark a bit of excitement in some fans, it is likely to be nothing more than a flash in a pan. The fact of the matter is that this show has nothing new to offer and nothing of value to provide that past seasons and episodes have not already. For those who still want to watch it, though, it will air on April 28.
