HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 24, 2017 -- Award-winning filmmaker Lauren A. Graham’s much-anticipated short film “Crush,” is a fantastical look into the modern crush in the digital age. The short satirical look at the “will he or won’t he,” text is putting Graham at the forefront of female directors to watch.
It’s no secret that we are all obsessed with our smart phones and we can’t live without them. “Crush,” stars three main characters, a smart phone, Marissa Luck (HBO’s “The Leftovers”) and Elizabeth “Lissy” Ferra (“Reality Queen,” FX’s “Better Things”). Marissa and Lissy are two best friends who pass the time fantasizing and deciphering text messages from crushes they met online. They spend their time pondering if there is a future with someone they haven’t even met in person.
The short features Marissa in her daily life in and around Los Angeles where we experience the ups and downs of her Mystery Crush, which lives inside her smart phone.
“With “Crush” I was able to create a satirical look at our obsession with the search for technological love,” said director Lauren A. Graham. “The script was fun to write because the subject matter is very common among single women and so relatable.”
Graham’s previous projects include “Breathing Underwater,” (2012) (VH1’s “You Oughta Know,” December 2012) “The Sea,” (2014), ” The Shade,” (2015), which was nominated for a Best Alternative Video for Much Music in Canada in 2016 and she is currently working on a documentary “Metric, In The Shadow of the Big Screen.”
She has been an in-demand producer and director, creating original video and branded content for major brands including Playboy Enterprises, Toms Shoes, Acura and Burton Snowboards. Graham is currently directing and producing content for Sephora.
