Hyundai has introduced the Casper EV in Korea, starting at $23,000, aiming to attract young, budget-conscious drivers with its innovative design and affordable price.

Affordable Hyundai Casper EV Priced at $23,000

In Korea, the new Hyundai Casper electric vehicle is available for as little as $23,000 (31.5 million won). You may get a Hyundai compact electric SUV for as little as $17,000 (23 million won) once you take advantage of all the government incentives.

Electrek states that last month, Hyundai in its home market began accepting pre-orders for the Casper EV (known as Inster EV in Europe) with prices beginning at a low of $23,000 (31.5 million won).

Casper EV: New Standard for Electric Vehicles

As far as Hyundai is concerned, the Casper EV represents a "new standard for popularizing electric vehicles.". Young drivers seeking affordable electric vehicle options were the target market for Hyundai's tiny electric SUV.

Hyundai stated, "We have prepared the Casper Electric with unrivaled product competitiveness and reasonable price" in order to fulfill demand.

An improvement over the gas-powered version, the Casper EV is similar to the brand new 2024 Kona Electric. New features include a closed grille, pixelated turn signals, and Hyundai's distinctive daytime running lights.

Hyundai’s 196-Mile Casper EV Beats Kia Ray

With a maximum range of 196 miles (315 km), Hyundai's electric SUV in Korea outdoes the new Kia Ray EV by around 62 miles (100 km). Fast charging, which takes 30 minutes, is also an option for the Casper EV.

The Korea JoongAng Daily drove the Casper Electric 60 kilometers (37 miles) across Gyeonggi, South Korea, to put it through its paces.

The reporter began by remarking that the "cute and funky" electric SUV from Hyundai looked like a cartoon car.

Roomier Cabin with Extended Wheelbase

The electric Casper has a roomier cabin than the gas-powered version, thanks to its larger second-row seats and larger trunk. There was a 7-inch (180 mm) extension to the wheelbase at Hyundai.

The electric variant does have a 10.25-inch infotainment and driver display layout, but it is missing a few essential functions. For those who prefer a more understated design, the Casper EV's absence of a center console may be an asset.

At the same time, the study did note a couple of items that were better than anticipated. First of all, despite the heavy rain, the road was surprisingly softer than anticipated. Even under heavy acceleration, the electric SUV remained completely motionless.

Safety Features Tailored for Young Drivers

A red light will illuminate on the dashboard to alert you if you exceed the speed limit. Additionally, it serves as a warning when you approach the car ahead of you at an unsafe distance. Younger drivers will find both features useful.

A first-of-its-kind pedal misapplication safety assist (PMSA) mechanism is standard on the Casper EV. When an object is detected within 3′ 3″ (1 meter) when the accelerator is completely pressed for 1/4 of a second, the system will take over control of the car.

"You get what you pay for" is the report's final verdict on the new Casper EV from Hyundai. The Casper Electric is shorter than the Chevy Bolt EV, which is 4,145 mm, at 3,825 mm.

Casper EV’s WLTP Range Up to 221 Miles

This little electric SUV will be known as the Inster EV in the European market. It starts at less than $27,000 (25,000 euros) and has a WLTP range of up to 221 miles (255 km).
