Donald Trump’s daughter and White House presidential adviser Ivanka Trump is among the names dropped in the revealing New York Times piece that published the president’s tax records. Recently, Ivanka was mocked by users on social media regarding the piece after she shared photos of her monument tour.
Ivanka shared photos of her monument tour with her children in Washington DC, visiting the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Mount Vernon, Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Supreme Court. Users immediately criticized the White House adviser, bringing up the possible financial allegations made towards her that she will have to face upon stepping down by January.
One user commented that she may be saving the authorities millions in investigative travel costs. This is in reference to the New York Times report regarding the criminal and civil probes being launched from New York into her family. New York attorney general Letitia James sent a court order to the Trump Organization to look into the consulting fees paid to Ivanka even as she is an executive in the company. Ivanka has denied receiving any tax benefit, blasting the investigations as politically-motivated.
Other users have commented that she is privileged to be able to take her children out to visit monuments in the midst of a pandemic and economic collapse. Some users have also brought up her father’s refusal to concede to incoming president Joe Biden. In the midst of the criticism in the comments, there were still some who supported Ivanka’s trip with her kids to the monuments.
Previously, Ivanka alongside her husband Jared Kushner and their family are reportedly poised to make their return to New York come January when the Trump administration leaves. However, analysts have speculated that they may no longer be welcomed back into the state, more so the social scene. Ivanka’s former friend Lysandra Ohrstrom, who wrote a scathing piece on Vanity Fair about her friendship with the White House adviser, said that she expects her to be welcomed in Palm Beach instead of New York.
Author Jill Kargman said that Ivanka and Jared may be placed in a kind of “prison” when they return to New York. Others have speculated that they may not be welcomed back into the social scene in the state. It is also noted that the state leaned towards Biden during the elections.
