Jaguar Land Rover Korea is set to release at least four new car models this year. With the launch of these units, the automaker is aiming to bolster its product portfolio.
Price cuts for the new car models
As per The Korea Herald, Jaguar Korea is also reducing the prices of the vehicles in an effort to meet the demands of the consumers. Then again, even if the prices were confirmed to go down, the features have been upgraded, so it is really a good offer from the carmaker.
Based on the description, the four latest car models will have new infotainment systems and will come with gasoline powertrains. These details were revealed by Jaguar Land Rover Korea’s managing director, Robin Colgan. He spoke at a press conference on Monday, March 15.
Speaking to the press, he said that since his appointment as the company’s managing director in October 2020, this is his first time to face the media. He went on to discuss Jaguar Land Rover Korea’s 4P (product, price, PIVI Pro, and powertrain) strategy.
This strategy has been put in place to strengthen and maintain the firm’s foothold in the vehicle market. Colgan also mentioned the company’s aim and plans to focus on electrification for its future productions. By the year 2039, Jaguar Land Rover wants to achieve net-zero carbon emissions.
“I want to emphasize the point that these are not simply words, we are not looking for headlines. We will spend 3.5 billion dollars annually, the budget is already secure and work has already started to deliver these objectives,” Colgan explained regarding its plans to go all-electric.
The units set to be launched in 2021
Korea Joongang Daily reported that Jaguar Land Rover will release two totally updated sports utility vehicles which are the All-New Defender 90 and the Land Rover Discovery SUV. It will also unveil the Jaguar F-Pace and new XF sedan in South Korea.
"The global auto market has shifted toward a petrol-first strategy and Korea is no exception," Colgan said. "Jaguar Land Rover has been somewhat late to adapt to that change. But we will gradually reduce dependency on diesel and have petrol options available across the range."
All the new vehicle models will come equipped with Jaguar Land Rover's newest Pivi Pro infotainment system that was co-developed with LG Electronics. Also, Jaguar Land Rover Korea worked with SK Telecom for the upgrade of the models’ navigation system to adapt to the local requirement.
