Amid growing speculation in Republican circles about a potential fallout between Elon Musk and Katie Miller, the former Trump administration official clarified that she still works for Musk. Miller, who is married to Trump adviser Stephen Miller, confirmed to Reuters that she remains on Musk’s payroll but did not elaborate on her exact role or whether she serves as a spokesperson.
The rumors intensified following her social media changes, including replacing a SpaceX banner with family photos and Musk unfollowing her on X. These changes, along with her reduced public activity and Musk’s recent split with top executives, led some Republicans to suspect a professional break.
Despite the speculation, Miller issued a public statement this week on behalf of xAI, Musk’s AI company, marking her first such communication in weeks. The statement criticized environmental opposition to xAI’s Tennessee operations, signaling she remains involved.
Miller transitioned from her government position—an adviser to the Department of Government Efficiency under Musk—to work for him privately earlier this year. However, the timing coincided with Musk’s public feud with Trump over fiscal issues, raising questions about her continued loyalty.
Sources noted Musk had previously spent time with the Millers and had unfollowed both Katie and Stephen Miller, although he later re-followed Stephen. Miller declined to comment on the social media activity or her current responsibilities. Musk and X did not respond to requests for comment.
Miller's ongoing affiliation with Musk, despite his clashes with Trump policies championed by her husband, has surprised many in GOP circles. Described as a staunch Trump loyalist, her role in Musk’s circle has left some questioning whether political and professional allegiances are shifting.
