British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called for former Prince Andrew to testify before a U.S. congressional committee following new revelations about his long-standing links to disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The comments come after the U.S. Department of Justice released newly unsealed Epstein-related files that shed further light on Andrew’s relationship with Epstein after his 2008 conviction for child sex crimes.
According to the newly published documents, emails indicate that Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, remained in regular contact with Epstein for more than two years after Epstein’s conviction. The correspondence reportedly includes discussions about potential business opportunities, social engagements, and introductions to women. One email allegedly shows Epstein offering to bring three women to Buckingham Palace.
The files also contain redacted photographs that appear to show Andrew crouching over and touching the waist of an unidentified woman lying on the floor. The woman’s face was blacked out, and the images have not been independently verified. These revelations have intensified scrutiny of Andrew, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing and previously claimed he cut off contact with Epstein after a single 2010 meeting in New York intended to end their association.
Starmer, speaking to reporters while traveling to Japan after a visit to China, emphasized the importance of cooperation in investigations centered on victims of sexual abuse. He stated that anyone with relevant information should be willing to provide it in whatever form is requested, adding that a victim-centered approach requires full transparency.
In November, U.S. lawmakers renewed calls for Andrew to answer questions as part of a congressional investigation into Epstein’s network and enablers. Epstein died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
Amid earlier fallout, King Charles stripped his brother of his royal title and evicted him from his residence on the Windsor Castle estate. Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the latest disclosures, and Andrew did not respond to requests for comment. The renewed attention underscores ongoing international efforts to uncover the full scope of Epstein’s activities and connections.
